Ballet North Texas was founded in November 2017 by Nicolina Lawson, for the purpose of bringing Dallas continually expanding productions of contemporary, neo-classical, and classical works through its own professional ballet company. In April of 2018 Ballet North Texas received its letter of determination from the Internal Revenue Service making Ballet North Texas a 501(c)3 Non-profit Arts Organization. The 2018-19 Season was BNT’s first full-length season featuring three full evening productions and over 18 performances. Starting in January 2019 BNT began its professional trainee program with one student and now reaching over ten students. As a result of the success of this program and to make BNT a sustainable organization, the board unanimously voted to further it’s educational and outreach programs by creating North Texas Conservatory as the Official School of Ballet North Texas to its operations. NTC is designed to train the next generation of dancers, to fill student rolls in the professional company’s performance programs, to further its desire for collaboration between artists in the way of dance performance with live musical accompaniment, and to ensure the company grows and expands itself to a level of national recognition.
