Damerah Coleman

Trainee

Damerah Estelle Coleman, originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, began her ballet training at the Indianapolis School of Ballet, where she studied under Victoria Lyras and the faculty of Indianapolis Ballet. During her time there, she performed in numerous productions including "The Nutcracker", "Sleeping Beauty", "Firebird", and "Coppelia". She continued her training through summer intensives with programs including Oregon Ballet Theatre, Carolina Ballet, Ballet West, and The Dance Artist Prep.

In 2022, Damerah began attending the University of Oklahoma School of Dance, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance, along with minors in Health and Exercise Science and Arts Management and Entrepreneurship. She trained under esteemed faculty including Michael Bearden, Boyko Dossev, Glenn Edgerton, Jan Fugit, Mary Margaret Holt, and others. During her time at the university, she performed a wide range of repertoire, including "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "The Nutcracker", and George Balanchine's "Serenade", as well as learning works by William Forsythe, Sidra Bell, Penny Saunders, and Jiri Kylian. She also presented original choreography through the Young Choreographer's Showcase, including her senior capstone work "I Love You More".

Damerah has also developed a strong foundation in arts leadership and marketing, working with organizations such as Indy Dance Council and the OU Dance Alumni Association. She is excited to be joining Ballet North Texas for the 2026/27 season.
